Beautiful bespoke windows and stained glass artistry for a family home in Surrey

Set across four storeys, this detached property on Oak Hill Road in Surbiton has been completely reimagined by homeowners Andy and Catherine. As part of a full renovation led by Catherine’s design vision, Sashed was commissioned to manufacture and install all new windows throughout the property, including two bespoke arched stained glass windows, crafted by Zoe Angle of Angle Glass.

The result is a home that combines technical excellence with deeply personal detail, where every window has been considered for both function and beauty.

Hand-painted stained glass windows with personal resonance

At the heart of the project are two arched stained glass windows, each designed to tell a story. The Young family worked closely with artist Zoe Angle to bring their ideas to life, choosing imagery that reflected their personal history.

  • One window, titled Spring, features painted irises – a tribute to their daughter, Iris.
  • The other, titled Autumn, includes a depiction of Richmond Hill, where Andy and Catherine were married.

These pieces are more than decorative; they are designed to create a sense of permanence and meaning. Sashed worked with precision to fabricate and install the arched frames that house these artworks, ensuring the stained glass could be enjoyed to its fullest, both inside and out.

Tailored casement and sash windows throughout

Beyond the feature-stained glass, Sashed also supplied and installed a full suite of windows across the house – a mix of French casement windows and sliding sash windows, each crafted to complement the home’s architecture.

  • Internal finish: All windows were painted white, offering a fresh, timeless backdrop to the interior palette.
  • External finish: Each window was painted in Farrow & Ball Green Smoke (No. 47), adding character and depth to the property’s façade.
  • Ironmongery: Every unit was fitted with Croft antique brass fittings, selected for their craftsmanship and heritage appeal.

A home of individuality and craftsmanship

This was a project where every detail had a purpose. Catherine’s interior and architectural direction was thoughtful and personal, and Sashed’s role was to provide the craftsmanship and precision to realise it. From large-format French casements to the smallest ironmongery fixings, each decision supported the home’s broader narrative.
