Creating a cohesive, design-led home with bespoke timber joinery throughout – Kensal Rise
When Phil and Paul purchased this 1930s semi-detached property in Kensal Rise, they had a vision to extend the property, reconfigure the layout, and create a refined, design-led family home with beautifully crafted details – including stunning new windows and doors – that would serve them and their three children for years to come.
With a significant renovation that included a rear and side extension, as well as a full loft conversion, the couple turned to Sashed to design, manufacture, and install every timber window and door throughout the property. The result is a timeless, contemporary family home defined by its bespoke Meranti joinery, beautifully considered finishes, and architectural precision.
From heritage-style front bays to our largest-ever bi-fold door at the rear, this was a project where our technical expertise, collaborative approach, and commitment to uncompromising quality truly came to life.
Bespoke windows and doors throughout the home
Working closely with clients who both have a deep understanding of design and interiors, the brief called for more than just premium joinery. Every element was tailored, from beading profiles to glazing choices, to reflect Phil and Paul’s unique vision.
Rear transformation with our largest bi-fold door to date
To maximise natural light and enhance flow between the kitchen extension and the garden, Sashed supplied and installed a monumental 6070 mm x 2780 mm timber bi-fold door – the largest we have ever produced. Crafted from hardwood, this expansive door is finished in Farrow & Ball Off-Black (No. 57), providing a sleek and confident backdrop to the family’s new living space.
At roof level, French doors offer light-filled views and consistent styling from top to bottom.
Classic character at the front
To honour the home’s original 1930s character, we designed and installed two angled timber casement bay windows, alongside seven additional casement windows, all in Meranti hardwood. These windows strike a balance between period charm and contemporary performance and were specified with precision to match the property’s architectural proportions.
Considered design with an uncompromising eye for detail
Phil and Paul brought extensive experience in interior design to the project. This made for a highly collaborative process, with the following tailored features:
- Custom-made square beading throughout, crafted to exact specification.
- Fluted glass in both bathrooms, offering a tactile, light-enhancing privacy solution.
- Luxury ironmongery from Croft Architectural Hardware, chosen for quality and finish consistency across the home.
- Dual-finish timberwork using premium Farrow & Ball colours, enhancing contrast and clarity between interior and exterior aesthetics.
