Project Project Overview: Authentic character, upgraded performance
This residential development in Ealing was part of a high-specification refurbishment within a conservation area. Sashed was commissioned by a private developer to design, manufacture, and install a complete bespoke joinery package to upgrade the property, meet modern performance and compliance standards, and add value to the development.
The focus was on accurately matching the original joinery’s proportions and detailing, including refurbishing and reinstating the existing stained glass. The project was delivered within a live construction programme, with on-site support and phased installation aligned to the wider build schedule to avoid delays.
Design & Replication: Meticulous reproduction of a signature entrance door with period details
The front entrance was a focal design element that demanded meticulous attention to detail. We created a bespoke door design replicating the mock Corinthian column detailing on the frames and accommodating the reinstatement of the original stained glass, which was carefully restored and sealed into the door in front of a double‑glazed unit. For superior strength and durability the client opted for Accoya throughout the project.
Detailed drawings were produced so the client could review the design prior to manufacture.
This approach ensures an exceptional result which captures the attention of future buyers and sets the tone for the whole project.
Compliance & Delivery: Phased installation & fully certified products
After the initial design and development stage, we carried out a production survey of the existing joinery and the building, allowing the client to review installation and timing requirements with our operations team.
Installation was phased in three stages to align with the developer’s build schedule, ensuring the programme stayed on track and enabling the client to plan other works around our installation.
All products were manufactured with appropriate certification, including UKCA marking, U‑value certificates, and transferable warranties, providing reassurance to future owners that the new windows and doors met high standards and would be durable.
Our double glazed sash and casement windows have a U-Value of 1.2 W/m²K (whole-window Uw) and our double glazed door-sets have a U-Value of 1.3 W/m²K (whole-window Uw).
Outcome: Market ready finish & added value – Original features restored, stronger sales appeal
The joinery was delivered in line with the wider construction programme. Phased installation and close coordination kept the project on schedule and enabled a smooth sign-off.
On completion, the replicated windows and doors read as original features, elevating the property’s finish. The fine detailing photographed well for marketing, supporting the sale and adding value to the development.
