Stunning corner-framed window and pivot door for a Victorian terraced house in North London
Located on Dynevor Road, N16, this Victorian terraced property received a striking extension and conversion as part of Yard Architects’ House of Reclaim project. Sashed was commissioned to supply and install high-quality, timber-crafted windows plus two standout features: a bespoke corner-framed window and a large pivot door that beautifully unites interior and garden space.
The project was featured as a prominent article and showcased on the front cover of the September 2025 edition of the Homebuilding and Renovating magazine. This project is a showcase for considered detailing and elegant, contemporary joinery.
Ground-floor highlight: bespoke corner-framed window and pivot-opening door
The centrepiece of this Stoke Newington project is undoubtedly the corner-framed window, composed of a fixed picture pane and a sliding window, meeting with precision to form a striking architectural feature. Crafted from larch and finished in clear lacquer, it not only enhances the visual connection with the garden but also provides the perfect setting for a built-in internal window seat. In this warm, personal space, timber, glass, and light come together.
Adjacent to this, Sashed manufactured a large pivot door, also in lacquered larch, which opens outward to provide generous access to the garden. The pivot mechanism enables smooth, tactile movement and complements the clean, contemporary lines found throughout the extension.
Additional bespoke joinery throughout the rear elevation
Though the corner window and pivot door elements define the scheme, Sashed also manufactured:
- A sliding window for the second-floor loft conversion.
- Two casement windows for the first floor – all manufactured in the same clear-lacquered Northern European larch for a cohesive material palette.
- All units are glazed with standard double-glazing and completed with stainless steel ironmongery for a sleek, minimalist finish.
Trusted collaboration with Yard Architects
This project marks another successful collaboration between Sashed and Yard Architects, whose detailed specification and material vision guided the joinery package. The result is a tailored, technically refined rear elevation that enhances the flow of light, warmth, and architectural intent through the property.
Though we didn’t work directly with the homeowners, our role in delivering the architect’s vision was hands-on and detail-driven, particularly in executing the precision engineering required for the corner-framed window and pivot door.
