When should you start to think about replacing your windows?

Knowing when to replace your home’s windows and doors isn’t always as clear as it may seem. If your home is older than 15 years, it’s probably a good time to check and make sure your windows are still functioning well. For instance, do you have trouble opening or closing your windows? Do you consistently find moisture on your windows’ interior, or have damp walls?

Just like your washing machine, refrigerator, or roof, over time your windows and doors need to be replaced.
Here’s some things you may wish to consider to help determine if now is the time to replace and upgrade your windows and doors.

Are your windows single glazed?

Many older homes still have their original windows made with single pain glazing. Simply put, single glazed windows are not energy efficient. These old windows often feel cold to the touch and on a cold winters day can even frost on the inside of the window. Poor insulation quality and badly fitting windows will increase the chances of breakage, internal decor degradation, and damp and mould, and ultimately cause damage to your home.
All Sashed windows are either double or triple glazed, which offer a considerable gain in efficiency over single glazing.

Need a quieter life?

Reduction of noise, whatever the source; aircraft, traffic, or teenage music, can significantly improve your quality of life. Replacing your windows with doubled glazed well sealed modern windows can greatly reduce the outside noise intruding into your home. Many homeowners are often surprised with the significant reduction of exterior noise once they’ve replaced their windows.

Leaky windows?

Are the outside weather conditions making their way into your home? Is the damp in the walls or the mould and mildew in your home caused by your failing windows?
It’s not just the damp that leaks in, you may also have your expensive warm air leaking out! Heat not only leaves through the single glazing but also through ill fitting windows with inadequate seals.

Bold and beautiful?

Do your windows and doors detract from the beauty of your home? Old, drab, mismatched, ugly plastic or metal windows can significantly impact the appearance and value of your home and the pride you have in it. New Sashed windows and doors will dramatically improve the look of your home and improve the value of your investment for years to come.[

A breath of fresh air?

Can everyone in your household open and close your windows? It’s tricky to air the house and cool it down on those occasional hot sunny days if your windows stick and jam and they could pose a serious danger if you had a fire.

Looking good and saving money.

There are lots of good reasons to replace your windows and doors. If you’ve decided the time is right for you, you’ll be surprised at the great value Sashed windows and doors represent. Replacing old single glazed windows with new windows that feature double or triple glazed low-E glass and improved seals will give you substantial energy savings that you can offset against the cost of the new windows.
