Quality hardwoods and softwoods for bespoke timber windows and doors

When deciding which hardwood, softwood, or modified timber to use in constructing your windows and doors, you’ll need to consider various factors, not least your budget.

At Sashed, we only use premium-grade, sustainably sourced timbers, all of which are dehumidified and treated before their manufacture. Our products are spray painted in the factory with four coats of microporous paint or stain to give them a flawless and enduring finish. With good care and maintenance, this factory coating will protect your chosen timber from degradation for many years.

Introducing our timber range

Accoya timber

Accoya™

A modified timber which is treated with a non-toxic acetylation process for exceptional durability, this is the premium choice for most of our customers.

Oak timber

Oak

The perfect choice for staining or lacquering, this dense hardwood is favoured as people like to see the grain which adds warmth and authenticity to your design.

Meranti timber

Meranti

Meranti is a ubiquitous hardwood that’s lighter in weight and known for its durability. Its grain also has an aesthetic appeal that adds warmth. This combination makes it the most popular choice for most of our customers. It’s suitable for both painting and staining.

Larch timber

Larch

Larch has an attractive appearance with a distinctive colour and grain. It’s a great choice for staining or lacquering. Compared to other softwoods Larch is dense and strong, providing longevity and stability.

Pine timber

Pine

As an engineered softwood, our pine is finger-jointed for extra strength. It’s a lighter coloured timber that delivers a smooth finish when painted.

What is Accoya™ and why is it so extraordinary?

The result of more than 80 years’ research and development, Accoya™ is a natural wood that is created by taking sustainably sourced, fast-growing softwood that has been modified through an innovative non-toxic process called acetylation. Its creators have combined a long-established wood modification technique with leading-edge proprietary technology to produce a premium, high-performance material.

Like all our timbers, Accoya™ is made from sustainable sources and is fully certified for sustainability. It’s also wholly recyclable. You’ll find that this wood forms an effective barrier to mould and insects. What’s more, it’s guaranteed against timber rot for 50 years above ground, and 25 years in underground moisture or fresh water.
