A little more about the guys & girls who work at Sashed.
Hi, I’m Sam Mitchell, managing director at Sashed.com, thanks for visiting our site. I always like to know a little bit about the people I buy from, so here’s little about the people behind Sashed.com.
Through firsthand experience I saw how bad the UK window and door industry can be, so I decided to do something about it.
I grew up with windows and doors around me from a very young age. My mum had a leadership role in one of the largest domestic and commercial aluminium & uPVC manufacturers in Northern Ireland so windows and doors have always been in my blood. Instead of going into the family business I followed my passion for computers and took my first job in IT with America Online (AOL) in Dublin. I’ve since moved to London and continued my technology career holding senior roles in large companies such as BT and IBM.
I’ve been involved in, managed and directed several small scale property developments, and while shopping around for windows and doors, I had some disappointing experiences and realised there was a better way of making and offering timber windows to the market.
Like you, I use the internet to shop around before I buy. I like to be in charge, be informed, and find the best product and service at the best possible price before I buy. So I set out to make buying windows and doors as easy as buying something from Amazon.
I was also horrified at the high price of timber windows and doors in London and South East England and wanted to bring timber products into the reach of budgets that are usually restricted to uPVC. But it was not just the prices, I also experienced unacceptably poor levels of customer service and questionable ethics.
In my previous roles I’ve seen how technology can transform businesses and industries and wanted to do the same for the timber window and door industry in the UK. I’ve also operated in highly ethical environments where honesty, trust, openness, responsiveness, and respect are important and I feel they are fundamental to any business success.
My goal is to employ admirable business ethics and leverage technology to deliver great service and premium products at affordable prices to everyone in the UK.
..and that was the genesis of Sashed.com – beautiful windows at a beautiful price, while offering a great customer experience.
Sharing my idea with friends and colleagues, several were enthusiastic and keen to help me deliver my vision. Four of us together set out to create a company which is independent, ethical and transparent and one which offers you choice, good value and convenience. Let me introduce you to the team:
Amanda Purrington heads up marketing. She is also our office manager and keeps us all in line.
With years of operational experience as head of faculties for a large retail chain, Steven Hanson is head of operations and always knows the status of an order.
Keeping it in the family, Aled Jones (my brother in-law), an experienced joiner, advises on manufacturing. We all think he loves our timber windows and doors a little too much.
And finally, our Chief Bean Counter is Chris Purrington, a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant, who’s held many management roles in technology companies and keeps an eye on the pennies.
