We specialise in conservation area windows

Conservation areas now cover the majority of London’s boroughs this means changing your windows is covered by planning regulations. We take pride in our in-depth knowledge of conservation area planning laws effecting windows & doors in period properties.

What is a conservation area?

Conservation areas were introduced in the late 1960s and now cover the majority of the period property stock in the UK, most of London is now part a conservation area. Their purpose is to protect and enhance areas of special architectural or historic interest and place additional development control on any new works. Any property in a conservation area is subject to the 1990 Planning Act, – however, this rarely means you need planning permission to change your windows.
If you’re in a conservation area you can replace your old windows and doors with new ‘like for like in material and appearance’ and do you not normally need planning permission.
